About Us

Founded in Kilkenny in 1981 by a group of people interested in hiking and the outdoors, the club was named to commemorate John  Tyndall, the renowned 19th C mountaineer and scientist, who was born and grew up nearby
( for detailed biographical info see John Tyndall)

Regular walks/hikes/climbs take place on Sundays and venues are listed on the Meets List (see above), the full version of which is sent to members. There are also hikes on Wednesdays and Fridays throughout the year that have become very popular. .

Trips away are organised within Ireland (usually for weekends) and to mountain ranges and hiking areas  abroad..  Other mountain activities undertaken by members include Rock Climbing and ski-ing.
