Tyndall Mountain Club: Constitution

CONSTITUTION OF TYNDALL MOUNTAIN CLUB.

Title:       The club shall be called the Tyndall Mountain Club.

Aims:     (1) To promote and encourage mountain-recreational activities.
                (2) To provide opportunities for participation in the above for its members.
                (3) To co-operate with other bodies with similar interests.

Membership shall be open to all persons interested in the aims. 

The Club shall have a Committee with Chairperson, Secretary, and Treasurer and two (2) members.  The Committee shall be elected at the A.G.M. by a majority ballot vote by in-benefit members.  No officer (Chairperson, Secretary and Treasurer) may hold the same position for more than two consecutive years. 

The A.G.M. shall take place in September.  If an officership becomes vacant, the Club can appoint a temporary officer, until the next A.G.M.

The Club General Meetings shall be responsible for the organisation and co-ordination of the Club’s activities.     Amended 15 Sep 2021

Each member shall pay to the Club an annual levy/levies, which shall be determined by the A.G.M.  The expenditure of the Club must be sanctioned by the Treasurer and Chairperson. 

The constitution may be amended by a two-thirds (2/3) vote of the members present at an A.G.M. or an Extraordinary General Meeting, provided that a fortnight’s public notice is given. 

That at least two general meetings per year be held to discuss future walks and activities.  A quorum for the General Meeting shall be six members.

Amendments to Tyndall Mountain Club Constitution

Assistant Secretary and Assistant Treasurer. The Committee shall be elected at the A.G.M. by a
majority ballot vote by in-benefit members. No member of the Committee (officer) may hold the
same position for more than two consecutive years.

To (new wording) ‘The elected committee/and/or general meeting members, shall be responsible for the organisation
and co-ordination of the Club's activities.’
